Amy Receives Top Honors!
Congratulations to Amy Martin for taking 1st place in the Annual Big Peach Classic Bid Calling Contest – Georgia State competition. She faced stiff competition from auctioneers all over the state. Amy has been perfecting her bid-calling chant for 17+ years now and has competed and placed in competitions at both the state and national levels. This year we are so proud that she took home top honors! Way to go!
Big Peach Classic Bid Calling Contest
The Georgia Auctioneers Association’s Winter Conference is at Lake Blackshear Resort in Cordele, Georgia beginning January 17th thru January 20, 2014. The festivities will begin with a live community auction, in conjunction with the annual Big Peach Classic Bid Calling Contest followed by GAA Golf outing, several days of speakers, education and member activities.
Online-Only Auctions
Buyers and Sellers alike have embraced the online auction.

On the buyer’s side:
Efficiency.
You can bid anytime of the day or night from anywhere including your mobile device. You have plenty of time to research the items of interest and you can still view them in person during our previews (unlike eBay or Etsy, for example). Once you have taken an inventory of your purchases, you can decide how big a truck you need for pick up!
Auction prices.
As with any auction, you decide exactly how much you are willing to pay and can even set a maximum bid amount and the system will bid for you incrementally if there are other bidders interested in the same item.
Auction Feeling.
Unlike eBay, with our online auction platform there is no “sniping” where another buyer can program software to bid higher than you at the last second. With our platform, a new high bid will extend the bidding time for another minute or 2 so you don’t lose out on desired items.

Evening of Spectacles Raises $240,000
Amy Martin and George Franco were the auctioneers and masters of ceremony for the Evening of Spectacles held at the Buckhead Theatre this year on April 27, 2013 sponsored by the Georgia Lighthouse Lion’s Club. This spectacular event raised $240,000 for an organization that is able to provide $5 worth of eyeglasses, eye surgeries and hearing aids to Georgians in financial need for every $1 raised.
The Evening of Spectacles is a benefit event that, in addition to a live and silent auction, includes a fashion show in which students across Georgia, from Atlanta to Savannah, created clothing from used eyeglasses. The winner of the fashion show was presented with a $1000 check form McGee Eyegroup.
